Client portal and alerts
A law firm client portal that shows status, never AI output
Your clients sign in to see their status, send documents, message your firm and see what you need from them. AI output never reaches them, on any plan.

Who this is for
Case managers and paralegals who field client calls about status, at personal injury and employment firms. The medical records requests guide covers the authorization clients sign, and the portal is on every plan (pricing).
Their own sign-in, and a plain status
Clients sign in with their own account, on a sign-in system separate from the one your staff use. They can make the account at the end of intake or from an invite your staff send, and a verified email links it to their case. One account shows every case the person has with your firm, and it never opens your firm’s dashboard.
The portal shows where the case is: Received, Accepted, In progress or Closed, each with one plain sentence. Your firm’s internal labels never reach the client, and nothing on the page promises an outcome or a timeline. Your firm’s contact details sit beside it.
If your firm does not take a case, the client sees one message instead of a stalled progress bar: the firm is not taking the case, and they should speak with another lawyer soon because legal deadlines may apply.
Documents, held for your review
Clients send files from a phone or a computer: PDFs, photos, Word files, email and more, with progress shown as each one uploads. A file sent for a to-do is linked to it.
Every client upload arrives as Received and waits for a staff member to accept or reject it. Nothing reads it before then. An accepted file joins the case; on a case already analyzed, its pages are read as new since approval for an attorney to review. A rejected file is kept, outside the case file, and the client sees which files were added.
Messages and to-dos
Clients message your firm from the portal, and your staff answer from the case. Unread client messages show on the case and as a dot on the bell in your header.
When you need something from the client, a staff member sends a request. It shows in the portal as a to-do with its own upload button, and the client gets an alert.
What clients never see
Clients never see an AI-generated score, damages estimate, chronology or analysis, in any form, on any plan. This is enforced where the portal reads data, not only on the screen: the portal’s queries do not select those columns, and the database gives a client session no rows from those tables.
Clients see only the files they sent you, never the files your firm added, and never liens, costs or records requests.

Alerts by email, and by text when they agree
Clients get an email when your firm receives their information, when the case is accepted, in progress or closed, when you send a request or a message, and when you invite them to the portal. Each alert says something changed and links to the portal; it never carries case details. Each event sends one alert, even if a button is pressed twice.
Texts go only to clients who agreed to them at intake, from one shared Brennick number that names your firm. A reply of STOP ends them, and no text ever says a case was declined.
E-signature on Brief and above
On Brief and above, accepting a case sends your firm’s own retainer and HIPAA authorization for e-signature. The client signs from an email, and the signed authorization is stored on the case, where records request letters can enclose it.
A firm admin sets your templates in Settings. Nothing goes out for signature before a case is accepted.
Plans
The client portal and client alerts are included on every plan. E-signature is on Brief, Docket and Enterprise.

Do clients need an app?
No. The portal works in a browser on a phone or a computer.
Can a client with two cases use one account?
Yes. One account shows every case that person has with your firm.
Can clients see the documents we add?
No. The portal lists only the files the client sent.
What happens if a client replies STOP?
Texts to that number stop. If the client later texts START, Brennick records it but does not turn texts back on by itself.
